Protestant church in Chambon-sur-Lignon

After the Edict of Nantes, the Protestants have built a protestant church in a place called “Le Creux” (“The Hollow”) at the bottom of the village “Chambon-Prieuré” (Chambon-Priory). In 1679, it was burned and destroyed by order of the intendant Daguesseau. A new protestant church, the current building, was built around 1821 in the field of “Valla Chomier”. Made of granite and “lauze” stone roof, the temple bears the inscription “you shall love your neighbor” in its doorway. In front of its doorway, the memorial plaque is placed in honour of the “Righteous Among the Nations” who have hosted Jews during World War II.
